Detail

On-farm production process of M.A.I Organics, developed by knowledgeable and experienced agricultural engineers, complies with the following basic requirements:

Soil:

The farm soil of M.A.I Organics is not affected by industrial effluents and domestic wastes from residential areas, hospitals, slaughterhouses, cemeteries, and roads.

The soil has characteristics that are suitable to the growth and development of vegetables. It is light soil with a cultivated layer of about 20-30 cm. Soil was analyzed by authorized organizations and concluded that the amounts of heavy metals and persistent pollutants are within the permissible limits and meet the National Technical Standard QCVN03: 2008/BTNMT.

Watering:

The entire area is watered with groundwater pumped from well. Farm water was analyzed by related organizations and concluded that the amounts of heavy metals and harmful microorganisms are within the permissible limits.

Weeding:

M.A.I Organics’s farm workers regularly weed and plow manually. The farm applies intercropping method to reduce wild weeds, and absolutely doesn’t use herbicides.

Seeds:

The farm selects good seeds and strong and non-pathogenic seedlings to plant. Vegetable seed varieties are supplied by companies licensed to produce and supply good seeds nationwide such as Phú Nông, Thuận Điền, Trang Nông, Tâm Nông and Southern Seed Corporation, etc.

Fertilizers:

The main types of fertilizers used for vegetables are microbial organic. Macronutrient and micronutrient fertilizers must have verified origins and licenses to be produced and traded in Vietnam. Fertilizers with high risks of pollutants such as raw animal manures, and those composted from domestic wastes and industrial effluents are not applied.

Fertilizers are used in accordance with strict procedures, at sufficient quantities, right types and methods; Ensuring balances and appropriate quantity according to the procedures suitable to each type of plants.

Apply fertilizers for vegetables and fruits with growth period of less than 40 days once, and those with growth period of 40-60 days twice. Regularly monitor the growth of plants for applying fertilizers appropriately, as an excessive amount of fertilizer might affect vegetable quality. Apply fertilizers at least 10-12 days before harvesting.

Pest control:

- Apply integrated pest management (IPM) and integrated crop management (ICM) methods to minimize damages caused by pests.

-Apply appropriate farming methods such as: crop rotation, reasonable intercropping, watering, using shade covers, proper fertilization, change of soil pH, etc. for better crop growth and also preventing diseases caused by harmful microorganisms.

- Use resilient plant varieties and natural predators; use biological products such as Trichoderma, EM ... to reduce diseases. Apply natural control measures such as catching worms, trapping butterflies, killing larva at right times, and removing infected plants.

- Use biological and biochemical insecticides that are permitted for pest control and complied with the principle of the right type, the right dose, the right way and the right time; ensure a quarantine period of at least 10-12 days before harvesting.

Harvesting and preliminary processing:

Vegetables are harvested at the right time and with right techniques to ensure crop yields, quality and food safety. After harvesting, vegetables are washed and old leaves removed, wilted, wormy and deformed fruits are sorted out manually.
